With all the amenities of an urban hotel - eight rooms with steam heat and bath plus a dining room providing first-class meals. It mainly served transient guests on their way to and from the many sporting camps on the upper reaches of the West Branch. It also housed the post office, a supply store furnishing everything for travel in the backwoods, and rooms for the guides who served the sportsmen on their backwoods trips.
